Woods games have often done volume, but this one does fidelity - and while the next-gen golfing genre isn't exactly broad, we suspect being the best in a field of one will do them fine, especially since, in this case, it feels like it is mostly as good as it could be.

Once again, it would be nice to hear some new sound effects or voice overs every now and then.Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is a huge improvement over last year’s Xbox 360 game. Although it doesn’t have the same number of courses or golfers as the current-generation games, the graphics and gameplay make it the definitive Tiger Woods experience.

It’s quite obvious that Tiger needs to go through a major push forward if it wants to keep evolving, instead of this shell game. Given the weakness of last year’s edition, this version may keep the…ahem…tigers at bay, but even golf has to keep things new and fresh. That may not make the Bushwood crowd happy, but we’re gamers and we like innovation.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 preview:
Currently slated to be a launch title, we were told development on the PS3 version is about a month behind the Xbox 360's, and indeed the PS3 version was noticeably choppy, while the Xbox 360 version on display was running smooth as silk. However, the graphics still looked every bit as good, as evidenced by the demo we were given at St. Andrews.
