Game Chronicles reviews
SKATE review: There aren’t many flaws to point out with, the control scheme is innovative, but unfamiliar, it looks good and sound great, but most of it’s other features feel as though they’ve already been done. All in all, skate is just too different and will have a rough time converting even the most rabid fan of skating games.

SKATE review: The demo (which went up on Live recently) certainly doesn't wow in the same way that Skate does, making declaring this the definitive extreme sports experience somewhat easier for us. Punishingly difficult but ultimately rewarding, games of Skate's caliber are a rare breed and as far as first attempts go, it's been years since we saw one this accomplished. Just... sick, man.

Yahoo! Games previews
SKATE preview: Skate's analog trick system is revolutionary for the genre, but the game surrounding those mechanics isn't quite as good.

SKATE review: Skate is extremely different from Tony Hawk but proves that the videogame skateboarding subgenre can hold two titles. There are some annoyances associated with Skate being the first in the series but overall the game is a blast. Skate’s intuitive control scheme won’t be for everyone but those that give it a shot will experience some of the most fulfilling gaming moments of any sports game.
Game Informer reviews 88%
SKATE review: Skate is a great first foot forward for EA. And the beauty of it is that it doesn’t infringe on Tony Hawk’s turf. The two games share similar content, but couldn’t feel more different. At the end of the day, it gives skating fans another must-play option.

Got-Next previews
SKATE preview: Other than that, it feels much like THPS4 and on with a fairly open world (which was originated in Aggressive Inline anyway), and various challenges just waiting for your attention. The developers are also promising a fairly robust online mode as well, but we'll just have to wait for the retail version for that, arriving in less than two weeks.
