Prey review:
I can honestly say I hadn't bothered to look up any info about Prey because I was expecting another Doom 3 or Quake 4. When we downloaded the Prey demo for the Xbox 360, all I could say was "wow". For a demo, it was fairly long and there was even a multiplayer feature to it. I was in awe of it, and wanted more.
Prey begins as the main character rambles on about his feelings for a girl, and how helpless he is when trying to tell her how he feels. Tommy is a Cherokee Indian and he has no love for his heritage. All he wants is to take his beloved Jen and leave the reservation, but he can't seem to tell her.
In what originally seems a regular night at the bar, a couple of guys start harassing Jen. Tommy comes to her rescue when all hell breaks lose. A gigantic alien mothership pulls out the roof and starts sucking everything in through a tractor beam, and in go Tommy, his grandfather and Jen.
Although the whole alien abduction and human harvesting assembly line is very similar to what we see in Quake 4 for the transformation of humans into Strogg, Prey manages to be a little more on the creepy side as the aliens intend to use people as food or slaves. Humans are being transported in slabs, hanging like pieces of meat. Tommy spots a stranger setting a bomb that causes the assembly line he was in to break. He falls and comes lose, thus beginning his quest to save the world.

A slick and beautifully presented game, Prey has moments of total originality mixed with blatant reproduction, but it’s going to be hard to ignore during a summer when all else you have to choose from are poor PS2 ports and rubbish sports games.

If you've played the demo you've seen pretty much all this game has to offer. You're essentially getting an average game, for an above average price. As a 360 "budget" title Prey would have been a good value; as it is, however, it’s more of a distraction while we await Gears of War (which, itself, is a distraction while we wait for Halo 3). -- Mike Palermo

His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself, his girlfriend, and eventually, his planet.

Prey offers ten or so hours of gameplay in its campaign mode. It manages to do the expected FPS stuff well while adding some new mechanics that spice things up. Good use of the Doom 3 energy makes the presentation is superb, as well. Overall, the game is recommended even if it’s just to say you played a new 3D Realms product.-- Jose Liz &

Then there are the walkways that allow Tommy to walk on walls or the ceiling, providing some of the trippiest moments in the game, especially when they're turned off while you're upside down. Both of these elements affect the gameplay, as they're used liberally to create environmental puzzles (that we wish were a bit tougher).
