Condemned: Criminal Origins review:
The game does an excellent job in putting you in the control of Agent Thomas, an FBI agent who has been framed for a murder and he now has to backpedal farther than he imagined. You do it all, from the beating to the investigating.

Proclaimed as one of the best Xbox 360 launch titles, Monolith's effort shines with its hyper-realistic gameplay and super-creepy visuals.

Condemned: Criminal Origins review:
Condemned has come to the Xbox 360 as a response to all of us who secretly imagined turning our favorite scary movie or crime drama into a video game. Since I can't actually go out and take fingerprints and solve murder mysteries on my own, I figured playing Condemned would be a fun alternative. - Michelle Krut, Grrlgamer.com

Pros: - Among the best in the horror genre- Devastatingly effective melee combat- Lighting and shadow effects really add to the atmosphere Cons: - Too linear- Investigation elements aren't fleshed out enough- Lacking in replayability

Condemned: Criminal Origins review:
The gameplay is great, though we would have liked some more variety in the game. As you get through the last few hours (Condemned takes about 9 or 10 to complete), you’ll see everything that it has to offers. Thankfully, though, an amazing audiovisual combination make you forget about all those nitpicks as you take everything in.

Condemned: Criminal Origins review:
It’s been awhile since I’ve played a truly scary game. Now when I say scary, I don’t mean a game that claims that it may frighten you. I mean one that will have you exploring each level cautiously, freaking out at the tiniest of sounds, and when surprises occur it jumps your heart rate by 100 bmp. To be honest, I missed the whole Resident Evil 4 craze earlier this year because most of my life was consumed by the virus that is World of Warcraft, which is why I was excited to throw Sega’s Condemned: Criminal Origins into my 360, fully prepared to have the pants scared off of me.

There are plenty of other unlockable “Achievements hidden away as well, in the form of (what else?) Xbox 360s...Condemned is my surprise hit from the launch titles for Xbox360, I loved it. And if you like a good scare, and have no doubt – this is THE scariest game you will probably play – you can’t afford to miss this.

Like a number of 360 games, replay value is significantly enhanced by a smattering of interesting and sometimes difficult achievements. If you enjoy games like Fatal Frame and Silent Hill, Condemned should be right up your alley. -- Travis Dwyer

Some of the best portions of the game are when you hear them yelling and scuffling with each other in other rooms and the floors above you which will definitely send the chills down your spine.

In terms of getting an original game to go with your 360, this is definitely recommended on that level, but in the broader context it's a sign that next generation gaming may offer a wonderful audio visual experience, but it needs to be a tad more ambitious in the game design stakes.

This first-person action game hits you like a sledgehammer with its astounding, stunningly creepy presentation, but it sacrifices opportunities for more shocks and surprises by settling for repetition.
