A 3D beat-'em-up that actually works. A game based on a movie that doesn't suck. A Rockstar game full of violence and cursing...okay well that's still standard but, otherwise, a nice surprise!

The Warriors review:
The Warriors could have easily become just another repetitious street brawling title, but with a strong and original storyline that merges with the film plot, great combat action, and authentic 70’s style and flavor, this is one game that will keep you knocking heads for months to come.

The Warriors review:
Although it’s certainly not a masterpiece, The Warriors gets by on style, flair, variety, and simple fun. The gameplay – while still enjoyable – isn’t nearly as polished as it could be, the story and the appeal of the world that The Warriors recreates will be enough to pull you through to the end.

Rockstar takes the classic 80's movie and turns it into the most bone-crunching brawler on then console. Controversial at times, but a solid choice for fans.

New York City, 1979. A battle on the streets of New York. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they’re all after The Warriors-- a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members.

So the game follows the gang in the three months leading up to the events of the film, then puts players square in the middle of the great dust-up depicted in the movie. It also chronicles the gang's rise through a series of flashback missions.

+ The gameplay, while looking basic at first, actually has some incredible depth to it, and, combined with gang team tactics, it's enjoyable.+ The AI actually has some balance, and sometimes the strength of the cops and gangs can be overwhelming. Adds a great deal of challenge.

The Warriors review:
The greatest contribution made by The Warriors is that it provides a hopeful beacon for the new trend of old movies being made into new games. It’s easy to forget what a horror Fight Club was when playing The Warriors. Jaws Unleashed and The Godfather should take heed; the old movie game genre is on the rise.

But as a film tie-in, as a classic brawler, as a game that offers excellent multiplayer modes, quality bonus content and a unique style all of its own, it excels. I'd even go as far to say that I prefer it to the Grand Theft Auto games, in fact, though that may be because I do, indeed, love the movie. Even if you don't, The Warriors is well worth checking out.

Just to emphasize the brutality of certain moves there are occasions where the camera changes to a more suitable angle and slows the action down; did we happen to mention that The Warriors (like the movie) is only suitable for those 18 years and above and certified by the British Board of Film Classification? The Warriors review:
The Warriors surprised me with its quality. Rockstar Toronto demonstrated tons of attention to detail, bridging the game and film together. The action is fierce and very enjoyable. The only thing keeping the game from eminence is the poor visuals, which can be forgiven since there is so much going on at the same time. Rockstar Games definitely has another hit on their hands.

The Warriors review:
As fanservice, The Warriors is a treat for anyone who loves the movie, and as a beat-em-up, it outclasses recent efforts from competitors. Yet as a complete package, it's somewhat inconsistent. But with bonus missions, multiplayer rumbles, and a very fun 2-player co-op mode...we can most definitely dig it.
