Samurai Shodown V review: If you are a fan of the Samurai Showdown series and have fond memories of the old 2D fighter games and want to take a trip to the past on your magic Xbox time machine, then you should at least give the game a rental before taking the plunge on purchasing it.

Samurai Shodown V review: While Samurai Shodown V isn’t necessarily a bad game, it doesn’t quite hold up to previous entries in the series. It comes recommended only to die-hard SNK fans and those looking for a more casual and easy to access fighting game. Author: Michael Rousseau   aka: Violent Mike

Samurai Shodown V review: + The gameplay is enriched by its 2-D roots, and the Rage Gauge for combo building is a nice touch.+ Beautiful music and an array of sound samples that don't quite grow annoying.+ Xbox Live runs by the basics but still works reasonably well.+/- Graphics represent the true style of Samurai Shodown, but could've looked a smidgeon better for Xbox's hi-def standards.

Samurai Shodown V review: This 2D fighting game is a real blast from the past, but its big cast of fairly interesting characters and its online play can make it worthwhile for NeoGeo fans.

Samurai Shodown V review: The Samurai Shodown series has also been known for its willingness to tinker with its unique fighting system, and has resulted in a number of changes over the years. This installment is no different and offers several new features for the dedicated player. Characters can meditate in the heat of battle to affect their stats, and even slow down time for their opponent. Old faithfuls return, and talented gamers can throw their weapons down and fight unarmed.
