You begin things as a bumbling newbie and have to make your way up the ranks by performing well in the Whelen Modified Series, the Craftsman Truck Series, and the Busch Series. The customization of your driver is identical to that in last year's game -- and once again I went with Head #9 and Face #5, so I could fit in with all of the other Asian NASCAR drivers.

When you do connect your headset, the game will automatically recognize it. Through it, you'll immediately hear voices of your crew chief and what seems like an entire panel of advisors and spotters. Other sounds, effects, and music will continue to originate from your television or usual sound system. All this verbal advice and information really adds to the sense of being there. Page 2 of 3 »

Some fans will disagree vehemently with my assessment of this. As a racing fan, I felt let down by this as an experience that just wasn't enjoyable. Fans that get more caught up in the minutiae of NASCAR team management may find it fascinating and be prepared to overlook the things that I found to detract from the experience. Bottom line? Last year's was much better.
