Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is definitely an experience that is best shared, but even if you do find yourself playing alone, you will be able to immerse yourself into a surprisingly deep story and wonderful fantasy world of Asian-influenced culture that is loaded with non-stop and brutal action.

The Mortal Kombat series has been around for quite some time. Mortal Kombat has always been there for me, through thick and thin. Whenever I have a bad day at work and I’m upset, I can go home knowing MK will be there to hold me in its arms and tell me that everything will be alright. MK and I have been together since the very beginning. It all started in an arcade some time in the early 90’s. Although MK and I have built a strong relationship, we always haven’t been in perfect harmony. Around 1997, MK came out with a new game that tried to leave the fighting genre that they were so well-credited for. And of course, it resulted in what I like to call “failure”.

The "Test Your Might" game and other throwbacks can be found through out the game in the most useful places. Along with the many hidden features in the game, power ups, skills you can gain, the latest entry into the long line of Mortal Kombat games is definitely worth checking out and has our hopes up that there will be future installments.

As with the general gameplay of Shaolin Monks, these boss fights help to give the game an old school scrolling beat-em-up feel with titles such as Streets of Rage and Double Dragon coming to mind.
