Halo 2 review:
Xbox marketing Vice-president Peter Moore said the following in an interview: "Halo 2 will be the biggest 24 hours in entertainment retail history." And he was probably right. The bottom line is, compared side by side, Halo 2 makes its predecessor look second-rate. And that is a great thing. - Didi Cardoso, Grrlgamer.com

Halo 2 review:
1 audio. Despite the fact that Halo 2 is one of the best games of the year, it really hasn't grabbed me quite like the original did due to all the new games and hardware that have come out recently. With that in mind, I think anyone with an Xbox should definitely make this an addition to their gaming library.

Its difficult to put words to exactly what the sound does in the game, phrases like making the hair on the back of your neck stand up sound over the top, but it does something along those lines, it energises you as you progress through the game and the soundtrack kicks in.The Halo 2 review continues on the next page

I still recommend buying the game for its vehicle gameplay and online play but you might want to reset your expectations since the gameplay is still too familiar.

But not every gamer has a PC or wishes to get involved in the rigmarole of upgrading their rig every six months. Anybody hankering after the simplicity of Xbox Live, now in the knowledge that one of the biggest online communities is busy honing their FPS joypad skills and creating Clans galore, may find their reservations begin to thaw.

It's hard to think how this could have been made any better - apart from maybe the ability to fight back from melee attacks (as, yes, even in single player it happens to you, and you do feel a little helpless while it’s going on).

Halo 2 has done the same in grandiose fashion.I’ve struggled writing this review. Not because of the time crunch or wee hour of the morning. Because the more I sit here and reflect on Halo 2 the more my mind wanders to thoughts of picking the controller up again. Best. Game. Ever. The torch has been passed.

Halo 2 review:
Anticipation can be a very dangerous thing. Bungie, the creators of Halo, knew this more than anyone else. After all, the first Halo is the most acclaimed and best selling Xbox title of all time, so it doesn’t take a Master Chief to figure out Bungie better make a great, no – excel – NO, near flawless sequel.

Halo 2 review:
In this area, the game doesn’t falter one bit and is an ideal experience. Easily, it is the best you can find on Xbox Live. However, the single player portion is a touch repetitive, with some cyclical battles and awkward cutscenes, but they are wrapped around an immersive story. Overall though, it isn’t a game that any decent gamer should be without.

Halo 2 review:
Halo 2 is one of the finest looking videogames I've ever seen, and certainly outclasses everything that has gone before it on the Xbox. The simple fact of the matter is that if you own an Xbox, you should own this game. If you don't own an Xbox, well, there's never been a better time to take the plunge.

Halo 2 review:
I can only regretfully say, that I wish other games excelled as well in as many varying areas as Halo 2. Halo 2 is a must have for all Xbox owners. With superb graphics, strong sound, flush gameplay, endless replayability, and a killer story—there’s only one thing that can beat it: Halo 3.

Halo 2 review:
Halo 2 is as good as Halo, but to call it better than the original might be going a bit far. Although Halo 2 offers many more features and also Xbox Live compatibility, the game also lacks some of the great elements from Halo. Overall, Halo 2 is an awesome addition to any Xbox collection.

Halo 2 review:
The campaign picks up right where the first Halo left off, with Master Chief enjoying a hero’s welcome back on Earth while the leader of the Covenant forces is branded a failure and sentenced to death. This dual viewpoint approach dominates the game’s storyline, bouncing back and forth between the human efforts to stop the Covenant invasion and a burgeoning civil war threatening to destroy the Covenant from within.

Halo 2 review:
Best First-Person Shooter. Greatest Game on Xbox. Game of the Year 2004. These are but a sample of the many appraisals and complements that developer Bungie Software has been receiving since the debut last week of its international blockbluster release: Halo 2. What has been called the most anticipated video game of all time, to not have heard of the Halo 2 by now, one would almost certainly have been living under a rock for the past few years, as the follow-up to one of the most critically acclaimed FPSs ever made has garnered an amount of press and recognition that few other games have ever seen.

Halo 2 review:
When you look at how Halo 2 has been marketed by Microsoft it's hard to know where to start. With success almost assured thanks to the marketing blitz, not to mention the fact it's a follow up to the biggest Xbox launch title ever, over 1.5 million pre-orders were recorded before the game was even near retail date. Finally it is here and while the Xbox Live side of the game is going to offer hours and hours of enjoyment, the overall package may come as a disappointment, especially to fans of the original game.

Halo 2 review:
Thousands and thousands of man hours, lost sleep that can only be rivaled by death, and almost 200 tons of armor on one person. Yes, the time has drawn nigh, and the one true lord and master is back. This may seem like big words, but when you are talking about a game to the magnitude of Halo 2, no words can begin to describe the phenomenon. The success of its predecessors is the stuff legends are made of. With latest reports coming in with estimates anywhere between 3 to 10 million dollars in sales, Bungie is sitting back and taking it all in as best they can. Halo 2 has been dubbed by many to be “the biggest game ever”, but outside of sales, does it really measure up? Senior Editor Greg Wilcox and myself, Editor-In-Chief Josh Williams, got together to discuss the game and find out just how fantastic this game is. Following now is our conversation:

Halo 2 review:
We wouldn't normally treat the single and multiplayer facets of a game as separate entities, but in the case of Halo 2 we didn't really have a whole lot of choice. Microsoft didn't even turn on the servers until the day after we posted our single player review (despite us having reviewed from a boxed copy), and, to be honest, we didn't have the chance to rally 12 TVs and 12 Xboxen (not to mention multiple copies of the game) to engage in a System Link marathon, and we didn't feel that this would adequately represent the 'real world' in any case.

Halo 2 review:
"3 years," I thought to myself, tilting the LE case back and forth in my hand, feeling the weight shift, making sure that what I was holding was indeed real. I slowly tore away the plastic wrap, taking my time to peel off the "Do not sell before 11/09/04" warning sticker before placing it on my receipt and tucking it gently away behind the manual.

Halo 2 is the sequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo 2, the saga continues as Master Chief—a genetically enhanced super-soldier—is the only thing standing between the relentless Covenant and the destruction of all humankind.

There are no secrets in this review. No plot twists, no spoilers, not even hints at what the player can expect from the most anticipated release in the history of home entertainment. Sure, we could blab about the inner workings of the game - it's out now, and we don't doubt that hundreds of forum users will be desperately trying to broadcast every last detail in an attempt to show how great they are for finishing Halo 2 quicker than their virtual buddies.

Halo 2 review:
Expectation is such a double edged sword. The cultural obsession with building things up disproportionately (while simultaneously taking our eye off the ball elsewhere) seems to snowball with every passing year - and yet almost every single time a movie/album/game lets us down we still get suckered into the same cycle of buying into the frenzied hype. Then, if things haven't quite worked out, there's this psychological crash as people pick over what went wrong; people divide up into camps - the 'defend it to the hilt' faithful, the 'slag it off anyway' cynics, and the massive silent majority that go and buy it anyway, regardless of what anyone says.
