This is the primary means by which you'll upgrade your weapons and armor, and it lends the game an undeniably addicting quality. Also, you learn to steal items from enemies at an early stage in the game, and of course, some of the rarest components can only be stolen from some of the most difficult-to-pilfer-from enemies. The men and women behind Castlevania certainly know what they're doing.

+ Introduces weapon combining and Innocent Devils systems that could become staples in the series.+ Packs a good storyline, and backs it up with competent (if not overwhelming) voice acting.+ Has one of the better game soundtracks since the original Symphony of the Night.+/- Some neat graphical effects, coupled with sub-standard stage design. Take that for what you will.
