Capcom Fighting Evolution review:
Capcom's attempts to revive the 2D fighting genre hits a major snag, as this fighter doesn't offer anything new to modern gamers, aside from online support.
Capcom Fighting Evolution review:
They'll also get a kick out of the crossover mix between these very different games. It's just not the end-all, be-all compilation it could have been. The most unique thing about it is the chance to create match-ups between games with such different themes. Otherwise, most of these characters are available in other forms and in games you probably already have. -- Ernie Halal
Capcom Fighting Evolution review:
+ Supported by Xbox Live, this game should be embraced by the fighting community.+ Good if not spectacular 2-D graphics that bring the fighters to life as only Capcom can.+/- Solid gameplay, although the way the fighting system is set up for each character seems slightly unbalanced.+/- As cool as the Red Earth characters are, the rest of the cast choices are questionable.- A bit much at $40.
Capcom Fighting Evolution review:
Another working solution would have been dropping the overall display resolution of the game itself, letting the scanlines come in and give the game a true vintage look. It's been said time and time again, and this game is a testament to the truth of the matter; high resolution display plus low resolution sprites equal truly horrendous visuals.
Capcom Fighting Evolution review:
It also plays fine and looks good. At the same time, Capcom Fighting Evolution is the umpteenth game to recycle these same graphics, sounds, and mechanics, so unless you're dying to experience some of the strange matchups that are possible here, you could just as well go back to playing whichever games all these fighters hailed from.
