Sega's classic After Burner II makes its way onto mobile phones. It's up to you and your fighter plane to battle swarms of enemies, heat-seeking missiles, and anti-aircraft fire.
After Burner II review:
A straight, mindless port of a 1987 arcade game. The result is about as good as a 1987 Volkswagen today. Apparently being listed under the 'Classic Games' category is a valid excuse for putting bad games out there.
After Burner II review:
However, those expecting every part of the arcade experience to be in this mobile version might be somewhat let down by the game's lacking control scheme. It's like trying to fly your jet through molasses sometimes- not exactly what I call a "danger zone".
After Burner II review:
Though After Burner II is translated fairly well, it suffers most at the hands of the control scheme, which loses a lot of value on the scaled-down mobile system. If you're in the market for a mobile flight game, you'll find that this game is one of your best options, but despite looking and running quite a bit like the original, it just doesn't feel exactly like the same game.
