 OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast review:
Many years ago, I used to sit and play the original Outrun for hours on end on my PC. Driving my favorite car (a Ferrari Testarossa) with my nagging girlfriend at my side was a blast then, and it's still a blast now, this time on my PSP.
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast contains all the courses used in OutRun 2 and OutRun 2 SP with added features such as new cars, new music tracks and new game modes. There is also an arcade port of OutRun 2 SP.
Granted, those features won't be available right away, you have to unlock them through game progression, so don't be expecting to jump righ in a Ferrari on your first race.

Highlights are the multiplayer races, a full version of OutRun SP from arcades, new cars and new locations. While some of the content is new, the game plays exactly the same – fast, thick with the flavor of classic arcades, and kind of simplistic. The PSP version, surprisingly, was my favorite, and it might be because it just feels right to do some quick cruising on a portable.

Things get a little more involved in Heart Attack mode. Here, you're racing with your girlfriend in the car. She'll shout out commands during the race, like asking you to pass several cars, drift as much as you can, or drive in a specific lane. Performing these feats well earns you hearts, and in turn a better grade at the end of the race.

Anyone that owns a PSP system should definitely check the game out, while PS2 owners should approach with caution. There are just too many other, better racers on the PS2 that you should play even before OutRun 2006 comes to mind. Despite its shortcomings though, OutRun 2006 still manages to be fun, so you probably won't hate yourself too much if you bring it home.
