 Neopets: Petpet Adventures The Wand Of Wishing review:
Even though the PlayStation Portable isn’t technically a kid’s gaming system, that doesn’t mean developers and publishers are going to overlook that segment of the market. This is particularly true in those cases when they can also snare in the credit card carrying fantasy-loving adults with games that might touch their own sense of wonder. In fact, SCEA has a couple of PSP games that skew young, including the recently released Neopets Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing. Like last year’s Neopets: The Darkest Faerie on the PlayStation 2, the game will be much more enjoyable if you’re a fan of the long-running ad-fueled internet sensation that is Neopets. Heck, if Sony could reach the entire 30 million subscriber Meopets user base with this game, they’d put a big ol’ dent in the side of the competition’s portable battleships. What’s here is a pretty good Action/RPG that could be compared to a kid-friendly version of Sony Online’s Untold Legends or Champions of Norrath games. The visuals are clean and cute, the gameplay is surprisingly challenging at times and there’s even a fun multiplayer mode if you happen to have like-minded friends into Neopets. Overall, while the game isn’t perfect, there’s definitely enough here to keep the kids busy for a good 10-15 hours (or more) of fantasy-laced fun.

They're cute and funny.All told, Neopets Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing is a competent (but extremely generic) hack and slash RPG that makes good use of the Neopets brand. Role-playing enthusiasts will probably deem it too underdeveloped for their tastes, but Neopets fanatics and younger players should come away satisfied.
