Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
While Rivals has been toned down slightly from the console versions in terms of graphics, it's been thankfully tweaked specifically for the PSP in many key areas. Traffic is easier to identify and avoid from a distance thanks to bright colors, while large, easy to spot arrows and warning markers on the street point out sharp turns. And although there are still plenty of street obstacles as there should be, annoying little things I used to get snagged on have been done away with while keeping the same street racing feel. You'll still be racing through traffic filled intersections, down tunnels, over ramps, and etc.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
For the record, I still can't drive real cars. I never sat behind the wheel of a car again (cough except for that one time in America cough) and my father never spoke to me about further lessons after that initial attempt. Still, when it comes to the PSP, I know exactly what route I'd prefer to take: I'll stick to the ridges, and leave the underground to its fans.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
Far less typical are the Quick Play Battle games. Street Cross pits you against three opponents on a small, curvy indoor track. This mode is useful in that you can compete against tougher competition and win due to the fact that top speeds don’t come into play nearly as much.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
+ Lots of different racing circuits to take part in, from simple drag racing to all-out street competitions.+ Stylish use of a game soundtrack (for once), courtesy of the EA Trax system. Sound effects are good, too.+ Wi-Fi play can be lots of fun against friends.+ Customization options are present and add a stylish touch to the affair.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
Fans of the series, however, will be pleased with the translation of Rivals to the PSP, which been done flawlessly. In the end, is Rivals a worthy purchase for a hardcore fan of the series? You bet. Is it a must-buy for the casual gamer? No.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
Overall, not a bad effort, and a good launch title for racing fans. I hope that if EA follows this up, the continue the same engine effort, yet fix that blasted A.I. and add some depth. If they can achieve this, PSP owners will be in bliss. As is, this game is a must own for any fan of the series, but some race fans may get more out of Ridge Racer in the end. -- Brian Peterson

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
Overall Need For Speed Underground: Rivals is a well thought out portable version of the Underground series. Everything you expect from the console game is here and then some. The removal of the story mode and driving around looking for races to compete in make the game feel tight and well tuned to the PSP and people on the go. Nothing is lost here, and that’s saying a lot.

Need For Speed Underground Rivals review:
It's a nice game to have in your PSP and it's a worthy addition to the Underground lineup. It may lack the depth that Underground 2 has, but for a portable racer it does its job well. I'm certain (or at least hoping) that future iterations will provide a slightly deeper experience, with a more engaging look, but for now, this'll do.
