NBA Live '06 review: The load times are short, all of its big-brothers major features are included, there’s instant replay, and the gameplay is surprisingly tight. Simply put: it’s nearly everything you could ask for in a portable NBA game. Sure, there’s room for improvement, but that doesn’t mean that NBA Live 06 isn’t a darn fine game.

NBA Live '06 review: It's not without its faults, but those faults are overshadowed by the quality. No matter what your heart desires (dishing and swishing, hacking and whacking, or posting and toasting) this game has it all.

NBA Live '06 review: I would like to see more come in the form of a Franchise mode complete with at least a Create-a-Player next season. A good rookie effort and I’m sure we’ll see more where that came from in future installments of the series. Easily the best basketball title on a handheld to date. -- Brian Peterson

NBA Live '06 review: Dating back to when the PSP debuted in March, EA has clearly been the device’s staunchest supporter when you talk about the sheer quantity of titles they’ve released, and quite frankly that huge backing of support has been both a good and bad thing due to the sporadic quality of EA’s efforts while they attempt to familiarize with the new hardware. One game will look and play great, then the next will be plagued by technical faults and feature heavily stripped game modes compared to its console counterpart. Thankfully the latest EA PSP game I’ve had the opportunity to get my hands on has been the portable edition of NBA Live 06, which in my humble opinion is the best PSP outing EA has mustered up thus far and one of the all around best handheld sports titles I’ve ever played.

NBA Live '06 review: For better or for worse, NBA Live 06 looks and plays remarkably similar to its home-console cousins, even going so far as to include the new freestyle superstar control features.
