Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
The graphical capabilities of the PSP truly come to light in a game like this. Though the occasional texture may be a bit muddy on a building or two, each car is rendered in striking detail. Car enthusiasts will note the intricacies of every car, and each car part is distinct. The array of options for car customization is simply dazzling, with new parts unlocked as you progress further into the game. The car surfaces are sleek, and even the minor details, such as tiny badges, are noticeable during the races. This level of detail draws the player in as they customize they car, and gives a sense of accomplishment to splurging on those cool rims or that new hood. Individual manufacturers are also represented in the parts you can buy, from nitrous to bumpers, or even brand name decals. The cities themselves are intricate and involving, and most of the scenery is well rendered. However, the cars show little to no damage when repeatedly struck, retracting from the realism.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
Truly an amazing race game, and the best on the PSP, but I simply can’t overlook its one glaring flaw. So while this game deserved a nine, I had no choice but to penalize it heavily for its one and only sin. The sin of wasting your time and mine.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
It'll take copious battery-recharges to see and do everything, but the home version can be picked up for about fifteen quid less and won't strain your eyes as much. A purchasing decision depends on whether you can put up with the loading times, really - waiting twelve seconds for a vehicle to load up in our garage is about ten seconds too long in our book.

A complete recreation of the original's depth of races and modifications (and high speed fun) with allowances made for the smaller screen, DUB looks set to enjoy a new lease of life in the portable world.

Although Rockstar isn’t bringing their biggest franchise over to the PSP quite yet, they did wet our appetites with one of their secondary hits in Midnight Club 3: DUB...

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
Forget everything you think you know about racing on the PSP, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition PSP is a full scale, full speed experience unlike anything out there. The intense, chaotic sense of speed, the living, breathing cities, and the deepest and most stylish vehicle customization ever is taken to a new level and delivered into the palm of your hand.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
However, the few problems that the game does have, are bad enough to turn some people completely off. If you’re the type of person that is able to see the greater good of a game, then Dub Edition is a great purchase. If you get frustrated with a game’s flaws easily, you’re going to want to give this one a rental to see if it’s for you.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
The load time especially is something that's difficult to ignore, but don't take that to mean the game is unplayable. It's one of the best games on PSP, and one of the best suited for the hardware. The PSP may not be hurting in the racing game category right now, but MC3 is more than welcome in filling the free roaming gap.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
Provided you have incredible patience, that is. Brutal load screens pop up constantly; you can literally get up and make a sandwich every couple minutes. It wouldn’t be so bad if it only happened once in a while, but every time you start a race, every time you end a race and every time you visit a shop, you’ll be stuck staring at the loading screen. It breaks up the flow and can be maddening.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
Did I mention I can play two complete holes in Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee in the time it takes to load a single race in Midnight Club 3. I'm sorry Rockstar. I loved this game on the Xbox but this is totally unacceptable and an excercise in extreme and total frustration. Unless you are a Zen master avoid this game like the proverbial plague.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
In these tournaments, you can win new cars. And they're almost always the precise kinds of car you need to move forward. Apart from all these main races, there are a number of side races available in each city that don't help your career but do provide you with extra cash. That's good, because you'll need it to fully trick out your whip. Page 2 of 2 »

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition review:
Midnight Club 3 even features the console versions' extensive multiplayer, only now it's portable and wireless. In addition to regular race types you can challenge others to capture the flag, tag, and "paint" (checkpoint capturing) matches, which are all quite fun with four to six players. With less, you might be better off sticking to the races.

Rockstar's racer steers onto PSP. Is it fast, or will it make you furious?
