 Madden NFL 06 review:
While some may chalk it up these issues to a learning curve or the PSP not being able to handle it, NBA Live 06 has already proven that great sports games can be pulled off on the PSP. Even with all of its problems, Madden 06 is easily the best football game to ever grace a handheld, but it’s only worth $50 if you’re really hankering for some pigskin on the go.

Still, Madden 06’s ton of modes makes it a pretty attractive choice, even if it is the only one. You can play Exhibition games, run Practice sessions, jump into a Franchise, or screw around with 18 mini-games aimed at different elements of football, as well as play wirelessly against local friends or cross-country opponents in a functional Infrastructure mode.

Madden NFL 06 review:
By now every sports junkie is fully entrenched in the heat of the new-and-still-young 2005 NFL season, along with fulfilling their daily NFL obsession with the ever-popular and some-say overrated Madden football video game franchise. Previously released back in August for the consoles and PC, Madden NFL 06 has now stormed onto the PSP scene for the first time on Sony’s slick portable, and more or less the results are fine indeed. This being EA’s first stab at the PSP with the Madden franchise is readily apparent however, as what is an all-around excellent game of portable football is seriously hampered by a host of technical mishaps and frustrations.

Madden NFL 06 for the PSP is far from the definitive Madden on the go experience. There are just too many issues with loading, missing features, and visuals, with the former affecting pacing and overall game play experience. I hope that next year this will be resolved, but even with those issues; it is still the best Madden on a handheld to date. -- Brian Peterson

The EA Trax provided soundtrack is impressive in terms of sheer scope. All of the audio is console-quality, as well.Madden NFL 06 is the first football game on the PSP, and it gets a lot of things right. Like with any franchise, there is room for improvement but for now, Madden on PSP is definitely recommended to football fans.

You're much better off just using a standard pass and taking your chances. On the flipside, the analog's high sensitivity also makes the running game too easy, as the ball carrier can take sharper cuts and change direction faster than normal. Aside from the issues with the analog stick, however, the action you'll find in this game is just as solid as that of its console cousins.

It's got its quirks, for sure, as well as a few serious annoyances, but the gameplay is undeniably great. EA will undoubtedly work out many of these kinks for next year's game. However, there's more than enough quality content in this package to make this year's game worthwhile for any PSP-owning football fan.
