GUN Showdown review: GUN Showdown puts players in the role of Colton White, a vengeful gunslinger making his way through the untamed West of the late-1800s where the lines between good and evil are blurred and greed, lust and brutality were a way of life.

GUN Showdown review: Indeed, because of the limitations it's hard to imagine that a PSP port of GUN could have been any better, even if Activision had forked out for a few dollars more (sorry, I'll stop now). What that means is: it's GUN on a handheld platform, but it doesn't work quite as well as it does on consoles.

GUN Showdown review:  I’m glad Activision tried to address some of the problems in the original game (including adding multiplayer), but Showdown suffers slightly by drifting away from what it had already perfected.

GUN Showdown review: Activision surprises us with a handheld game that offers even more content and features than its console counterparts. An absolute must for Gun fans on the move.

GUN Showdown review: And when you wrap up all those elements with a film-worthy cast of actors and soundtrack, you easily have one of the best genre titles available for the PSP and a must-own game for action and western lovers alike.

GUN Showdown review: Gun Showdown manages to improve on the original in many ways. You get more content (and thus correcting one of the main faults against the game), multiplayer and portable-friendly minigames. The underlying gameplay is still top-notch and the presentation is as well. If you loved Gun the first time or have yet to play it, you should add this game to their PSP library as soon as possible.

GUN Showdown preview: You'd probably expect a portable version of Activision's open-world Western Gun to be a stripped down version of the console counterparts.
GameSpy previews
GUN Showdown preview: Since the game takes place in a streaming world, the PSP will be consistently reading off the disc. How much that's going to factor into battery drain remains to be seen, but we were promised that the load times shouldn't be too bad; Activision is estimating somewhere around fifteen to twenty seconds once it's optimized, which still sounds better than Liberty City Stories by our stopwatches.

Got-Next previews
GUN Showdown preview: New levels, new characters... things like that. PSP needs more original games, not token ports of existing releases. Though it sounds like I am riding the jaded wagon, believe me, there's no doubt in my mind that this game will gain a respectable degree of interest, it's just not going to attract the existing fanbase to own the same game a second time.
