Gretzky NHL 06 review: Gretzky NHL 06 walks along a fine line. As an arcade version of hockey, it doesn’t really succeed in going all out. Nonetheless, despite a longing for more responsive gameplay, I enjoyed Gretzky NHL 06. If you’re a hockey fan, it is a pretty worthwhile purchase especially since it doesn’t really have competition on the PSP other than Sony’s own Gretzky NHL.

Gretzky NHL 06 review: No bonus options, no heavy roster changes. It's just hockey at its simplest. With a bit more work, this game could've had the potential to be a true blockbuster. As is, this is just a sloppy and featureless product and I don't recommend it. Unless you're an absolute hockey zealot who needs to take their game on the road, pass on Gretzky NHL 06.

Gretzky NHL 06 review: This is a fairly lackluster game of hockey that doesn't really need to be in your PSP collection.

Gretzky NHL 06 review: Not perfect, but it's the only option you have.

Gretzky NHL 06 review: Passing is a mixed bag at best. After a few games, you'll figure out that icon-based passing is required for any modicum of success. That's a pretty cumbersome task for a game as fast-paced as Gretzky '06. Bring up icons, look at players, hit button. No thanks. Just make a game that sends the puck in the right direction when I push the stick near a guy and pass.
