Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
For those who thought it can not be done, Rockstar has proven you wrong with this almost perfect port of a cleaned-up GTA III for the sweet PSP handheld.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
Don't be fooled by its size. LCS delivers the full GTA experience in the palm of your hand. Definitely worth the time and money if you own a PSP. If you don't, LCS alone almost justifies buying one if you're a hardcore GTA fanboy like me.

Gaz becomes a made man from the comfort of the top deck of a bus. Read his review of Rockstar's handheld gangland saga, or you might just find a horse's head in your bed tomorrow - or worse still, a copy of Driv3r.

However, if you're like me and play mainly around the house, then I cannot think of a more perfect way to waste five hours in front of the fire. Until your PSP battery goes. If you haven't got hold of this already - just buy it - it's what the PSP was made for!

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
If there was ever any doubt of the sheer talent and efficiency of the Rockstar development team, that's been safely put to rest with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on the PSP. Not only were very few corners cut in the transition from console system to portable, there are some areas of the game that are actually even better than their console counterparts.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
The controls feel a little awkward due to the shortage of buttons in comparison the console controllers and some of the missions feel a little basic. The cop response isn’t quite as overwhelming is in console GTA’s, but overall GTA Liberty City Stories is not only an amazing technical achievement but an awesome portable game worth any PSP owner's £35.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
The load times are impressive, and even the battery life isn’t all that bad (I got around 3 hours of play on a charge). It would have been nice to see a few more concessions made in the transition to the handheld, such as the ability to save anywhere and restart missions immediately, but minor quibbles aside, it’s a heck of an effort from Rockstar.

It is fun to play, full of all sorts of depth in terms of gameplay, storyline, and storyline, and is one of the PSP’s greatest titles so far.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
Let’s face it, Rockstar games landed in some hot water when hidden content was found within all versions of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While the content was easily accessible on the PC version (if you knew where to download the mod), accessing it on either console version took such an effort that actually viewing the content didn’t seem like much of a reward at all. Once this hidden content was leaked to the public, politicians, family activist groups, and the media latched on to the story, causing San Andreas’s rating to be pushed up to Adults Only, which in turn led to retailers pulling the title from the shelves requiring Rockstar to publish a new version without the controversial content. As they say though, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and what this little fiasco helped to do was get the Grand Theft Auto name out to people that may not normally get exposure to the branding. Hoping to use this new brand awareness to their advantage, Rockstar has released another Grand Theft Auto title, this time on the PSP with Liberty City Stories.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
In gamey terms, its return also underscores the series' strengths, and best sums up the game's approach: not so much more of the same, but just plain the same, since you're patently not bored of the same. Not a truly outstanding new Grand Theft Auto game then, but an excellent PSP game. Although I do wonder how it'd do in a year's time.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
Rockstar has cut no corners in crafting the game for the PSP and it shows. This is the real deal, and is, in my opinion, a good enough reason to buy a PSP. A few control issues hold it back from getting a perfect score, but we'll save that for Vice City Stories (we hope). -- Jim Cordeira

Unlike the rabid fans I'm not sleeping with Liberty City Stories but I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, and for that reason alone, I'm awarding it with a four.

Liberty City Stories has its share of minor issues, but it gets enough of the GTA look and feel in there to be an exciting portable game overall.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories review:
For a typical game, this would be enough to keep it from being undoubtedly recommendable. But GTA: LCS does so much by featuring a console-like Grand Theft Auto experience on a handheld that these rough edges are simply forgotten by everything the game does right. If you’ve been trying to rationalize a PSP purchase, this is definitely the game that will do it for you.-- Jose Liz &

You can hop in cars using the Triangle, while X and Square are used for sprinting and jumping respectively. Switching between the weapons in your arsenal is as easy as pressing left or right on the D-pad. For the most part, the in-vehicle controls are the same, too.
