Coded Arms review:
Coded Arms has stunning graphics, plain and simple. It looks like a console shooter on the PSP. Enemies and bosses are very detailed, and much of the environment is destructible. The guns themselves look absolutely fantastic, with looks tailored to their element and purpose. The animations are smooth and fluid, with special attention paid to the function and handling of the gun. Enemies move realistically, and even simple things like electricity and mist effects look great. The only graphical drawback of the game is that some of the textures - Mainly on the walls - look a bit muddy. Other than that, the artistic style fits in very well with the overall game theme, and the models are surprisingly solid. One of the better looking games for the PSP

Coded Arms review:
I’m immensely pleased that someone out there is brave enough to put forth an honest to goodness FPS on the new Sony handheld. For those waiting for just that, don’t be totally dissuaded, because there actually is some cool stuff here. Coded Arms proves it can be done. Now someone just needs to do it right.

The handheld's first FPS is flawed, but not for the reasons you may think.

The menus are filled with matrix like backgrounds and effects that give it a nice theme that goes well with the storyline. While there’s a lot of really good features about this game, it just has a few too many minor problems that hurt it. Hardcore FPS fans, especially old school FPS fans, will enjoy this game, and it should be able to hold them over until the next FPS comes out.

PSP owners may find a passable rental in Coded Arms, but that's about all. The first-person shooter genre may have a bright future on the PSP, but Coded Arms isn't it.

Coded Arms review:
Those looking for a futuristic shooter may be pleased with it if they can overcome the frustrating lack of a dual stick (or mouse and keyboard) control scheme, but everyone else should probably stick with a rental. It's a good showcase for the PSP's visual capabilities, but it's not enjoyable enough to justify paying full price.

Coded Arms review:
Coded Arms really had its opportunity to be noticed but with the repetitive gameplay and the poor AI the game unfortunately just is nothing to write home about. Unless you can't live without a FPS on your PSP, you are probably better off without Coded Arms as I am sure in the near future there will be better games to choose from.

On the other hand, the overall experience comes off similar to what would happen if you roamed the halls in a hospital making "ratta tatta" noises. Sure, it'd be fun for five or ten minutes, but then you'd get bored and start to feel extremely self-conscious.

Coded Arms review:
Coded Arms is a visually stunning first-person shooter that places the gamer in the role of a computer hacker who infiltrates an abandoned virtual reality system. Players will fight through various virtual battlefields against multiple types of enemies with more than 30 different weapons at their disposal.

Coded Arms review:
Thankfully, I played a ton of Quake 3 and Unreal on my Dreamcast, so reacquainting myself with such controls took only a short time. I still have to say, Coded Arms is one of the better titles on the system, if not for the great visuals, but it is one of the few games that is actually original on the PSP and not some remake. -- Brian Peterson

Coded Arms review:
Random or not, there isn't much to Coded Arms. The gameplay is classic run-'n-gun style, creature designs are as uninspired as the environments they inhabit, and the unintuitive controls mean shooting often leads to frustration. Though FPS fans don't have much else to look forward to on the PSP for the near future, Coded Arms is merely serviceable to those who realize what they're getting into.

Coded Arms review:
Rather than trying something new and innovative within the capabilities of the platform, Coded Arms gives gamers the same thing they've gotten so much of already: a straight port that simply banks on the fact that it looks impressive and has never been done on a mobile platform.

Coded Arms review:
Frankly, I was surprised they could even make an FPS game playable on a handheld, but this game is not just playable, it’s enjoyable. With a great premise and a visionary artistic style to match, Coded Arms delivers a solid action-packed shooter for both single and multiplayer gamers. If you have a PSP then you definitely owe it to yourself to check this game out.

Coded Arms review:
I found that the default layout (moving with the analog stick and aiming with the face buttons) made precision aiming extremely difficult, while the opposite just felt plain awkward. Thankfully, you can tweak the sensitivity and turn on auto-aim if needed, but you'll still find yourself cursing at the screen often, particularly when there are several enemies on the screen.

Coded Arms review:
The problems are within the underlying design, which simply doesn't have a lot to offer beyond a bland, unappealing corridor crawl with similarly boring multiplayer. PSP owners may find a passable rental in Coded Arms, but that's about all. The first-person shooter genre may have a bright future on the PSP, but Coded Arms isn't it.

Coded Arms review:
It sounds like a real premise, but it isn’t. There is no currency in the game, no shop, and no valuable files to retrieve. Which means that there remains not a single motive to your actions, except perhaps to try to retrieve the value of the game you just bought, or to write a review of it for malt liquor money.
