It's a faithful simulation of the sport: just like the real thing, it's mildly diverting, good for soaking up a hangover at the weekend but goes on far too long. And some people will be love it so much that they'll sit up all night just to catch a few qualifying sessions from Malaysia, or Australia, or wherever. Just like every Formula One game.

F1 racing isn’t for everyone. It requires a lot of practice, track memorization, and intimate knowledge of your car; how it handles under a variety of weather and track conditions, tire wear, and how to tune your machine for each track. If you are up to the challenge, Formula One Championship Edition will reward your efforts with one of the best racing sims I have ever played.

One small detail that will probably not please F1 fans is the fact that the game is based on the 2006 season, so teams, standings and drivers are not accurate. Overall, Formula One Championship Edition is certainly a nice first attempt at a next-gen F1 game (especially visually), and if it goes over well in its home territory, I expect it won't be the last. -- Jim Cordeira
