X-Men: The Official Game review: You really want to know what happens, but you just end up with your neck getting snapped. Unless you despise the X-Men movies and simply want more ammo that can be used to insult your friends, I strongly advise that you avoid this game like you would French kissing Toad.

X-Men: The Official Game review: X-Men: The Official Game ties in with the upcoming movie X-Men: The Last Stand and provides the backstory. The new X-Men game, written by screenwriter Zak Penn and comic book writer Chris Claremont, lets you play as either Wolverine, Nightcrawler, or Iceman.

X-Men: The Official Game review: Maybe someday they’ll start making the tie-ins while the film is in pre-production, at least then by the time it’s released we’ll have something of value rather than wasted potential and another shameless cash-in…

X-Men: The Official Game review: This X-Men game, even though it's supposed to be the official game of the movie is very loosely based in the movie (which is OK, because the movie is very loosely based in the comics). Most of what takes place is more as a separate story that intermingles with the story of the movie.

The three characters you play in the game are Wolverine/Logan, Bobby Drake/Iceman, and Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner. If you've played the Lord of the Rings games that were based on the movies, the layout of the game is similar to that. The three characters have their own stories and missions. As the stories progress, you pick a path to go on. The problem with that is once you pick the path, it's locked in until you finish the missions for that character. This can be a little aggravating if you ever get stuck anywhere. Instead of taking a break and playing a different character, you have to keep going to be able to access the others' missions. - Megan Parker, Grrlgamer.com

X-Men: The Official Game review: The generic, thrown together experience known as X-Men: The Official Game is not what you’re looking for. Again, there’s nothing terrible about the game, but it’s so painfully average that it’s not worth a purchase. If you’re interested in learning why Nightcrawler wasn’t in the third movie, it might be worth a rental, but only if you’re really curious.

X-Men: The Official Game review: I’m surprised it turned out as well as it did given the dodgy history of licensed movie games, but there are still far better gaming experiences to be had for your time and money. Author: Jeremy Peeples   aka: Jeremy

X-Men: The Official Game review: The story provides some clues regarding the third movie and gives fans the ability to get the full story. The gameplay is solid thanks to the variety provided by the three main characters. The presentation promises to live up to the film, as well. If you can’t wait for X-Men: The Last Stand, the Official Game is as great a place as any to start.
