Suikoden V review: A step in the right direction for the ailing Suikoden series, but two steps would have been nice.

Suikoden V review: Suikoden has always been one of the underrated console RPG, and it really shines here with an engaging plot, solid combat system and stylish visuals.

Suikoden V review: It’s probably worth a purchase if you love the series, but if you’ve never tried it before, there aren’t many compelling reasons to start now. Six-person battles are interesting to see, so maybe rent it to try those out, or just wait for a price drop. Author: Jeremy Peeples   aka: Jeremy

Suikoden V review: It wasn’t long ago that I played Suikoden Tactics, a game I enjoyed. But truth be told – Suikoden V is the game that will either make or break Konami’s famous RPG series. After the wonderful games Suikoden I and II and the equally disappointing Suikoden III and IV, millions of fans have been holding their breaths. Suikoden Tactics was just a small breather before the finale. Would Konami prove that their renowned RPG saga was still to be held in high esteem? After more than 40 hours played I can, with relief, say: bravo, Konami. Bravo. - Lania S., Grrlgamer.com

Suikoden V review: While there are giant leaps towards putting things right this is a game that seems to be grasping for what once was rather than setting its paths straight into a bright and engaging future. That said, there is much good within Suikoden V and as a result this is a most heart-warming of homecomings.

Suikoden V review: Suikoden V reminds me of the best PS1 RPGs, with its world map, random battles and endless lines of dialog, but it still has the balance, polish and flair of the current crop of PS2 RPGs, placing it right in the sweet spot for any RPG fan, and indeed, anyone looking for a great story.

Suikoden V review: Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Suikoden with an all-new role-playing adventure filled with mystery and suspense. In the land of Falena, a prosperous and beautiful country governed by the matriarchy and the benevolent power of the Sun Rune, civil unrest arises and the queen is forced to use the Sun Rune to quell the uprising. But, at what cost?

Suikoden V review: It's a fun and engaging RPG and the overall length allows for enough actual gameplay to at least somewhat justify them. While Suikoden IV left the sour taste of curdled milk in gamers' mouths, the fifth in the series feels like a fresh, frosty glass of fun and excitement, minus the cookies necessary to make a wholly satisfying snack. Of course, none of this does much for the lactose intolerant!
