The commentary, provided by Matt Vasgersian and Dave Campbell, is fitting, although nothing out of the ordinary. 989 Sports has done an excellent job with MLB 2006 that makes you forget about the past misguided entries in the franchise. MLB 2006 review:
MLB 2006 is not perfect, but it's a darn good baseball game. The career mode is a great addition to the series and the gameplay is definitely picking up some steam. No longer is 989 trailing in the baseball race as all of these games are really neck-to-neck this year. But let me tell you, if you're in the market for a great career mode, MLB 2006 is the way to go!

MLB 2006 is the complete package, and delivers the goods where it counts. If 989 can covert this magic over to the PS3, we may have a new leader in sports all over again, if only they can get their other sports to retain the high standards this game is setting. + Incredibly deep franchise and career modes, where your player can do anything from change their morale to talk with individual team members.+ Gameplay is very engaging and fluid, and every aspect has been touched up from last year.+ Great animation and stadium details stand out.+/- The announcing's good, but the other sound effects seem slightly lacking.
