If you aren't sure, though... well, let's just say that some games aren't for everyone. These games will remain as the last examples of one of the longest-running 2D fighting game series ever created, and fine examples at that. If you're looking for something a bit more modern, I suggest you look somewhere else.

The King Of Fighters 2002 & 2003 review:
In the 2003 and 2002 entries, each team consists of three fighters. Before the round begins, you select the order in which your fighters will compete. Every fighter has two punches and two kicks and can execute special moves via joystick rotations plus button combinations. If you’ve played a fighting game since ’92, you know what we’re talking about.

The King Of Fighters 2002 & 2003 review:
Remember a few years ago when SNK was lying bruised and bloody on the ropes and then down for the count for what looked to be the end of the road? Well, the company is most definitely back in action with a new name (SNK Playmore USA) and it seems to be doing just dandy these days thanks to some great 2D games and no doubt an even more fiercely loyal and growing fan base. Their most recent console release, The King of Fighters 2002/2003 is a great 2-disc DVD set that finds the company’s signature franchise in mighty fine shape after 10 years. And it has me doing a little victory dance, as I just love to see good 2D games thriving in any amount on home consoles these days.

+ Plenty of excellent old-school fighting to please old and new school fans alike.+ Tons of fighters, including unlockables.+ Rock solid gameplay, and KOF 2003 features sweet player switch-out.+ Not exactly a memorable soundtrack, but it suits the game.+/- Good old fashioned 2-D gameplay, but some may find that a bit distracting.+/- Animation is superb, but some 2-D elements look a bit primitive.
