Ultimately, purchase will come down to whether you’ve been energised to see old favourites like Metal Slug back on screens, adapted for the newer hardware. If ‘old school’ to you means the class of Eton 2003 then this is not your thing, if on the other hand you’re a graduate of the early nineties arcades then it’s a welcome return for some streetwise gaming.

But to look at it from all angles, to many it remains an okay game, something you pick up every once in a while and then put back on the shelf when the going gets too tough. The greatness or lack thereof in King of Fighters really comes down to preference, which in and of itself is never a bad thing.

.. decent... I have to admit that the only SNK fighting game soundtracks I’ve liked so far have come from the Samurai Shodown series. Both KOF 2000 and KOF 2001 have the original arcade music tracks. KOF 2000 also has an “arranged” soundtrack option as well.Ultimately, the main reason to pick up this 2-pack is its "bang for the buck." Two excellent fighting games for $30 is a bargain.
