A straight DDR clone? No! This one has some charming qualities all its own.

In The Groove review:
+ A fresh alternative to DDR, complete with mines to avoid and having to use your hands during dances.+ Plenty of great modes, including the exhausting Marathon and the healthy Fitness.+ Two player battle mode is always fun, unless you have someone who can't dance worth a darn.+/- The graphics show clean arrow displays and other tricks, but don't seem to have any incredible pizzazz.

In The Groove review:
When you look at In The Groove, it seems as though it was a fan project spawned on the DDRfreak.com message boards. Lovingly crafted by aficionados of the genre, but ultimately suffering from feature creeping and a desire to include all things presumably cool. However, in the end In The Groove lacks the professional polish to be anything but mediocre.

In The Groove review:
The tutorial and the easier skill levels will certainly accommodate the novice players but there is no mistaking that this game is targeted for DDR veterans looking to take their game to a whole new level. If you think you are up for it, then it’s time to get In the Groove.

The backgrounds, in particular, are awfully dull.In the Groove isn't really a game that's going to win you over and make you a believer in the dance game genre. However, if you're already a fan of Dance Dance Revolution and you're looking for some more steps and tracks for your PlayStation 2, In the Groove is a good addition to your hot-stepping library.

In The Groove review:
In the Groove is an interactive dance video game that combines music, video, and a dance pad controller. Players spin, swivel, slide, and dance their way to earning points instead of just moving a game controller. In the Groove features exclusive, never before seen features like arrow modifiers that make the game arrows spin, change speeds, boomerang, and move in 3D along with over 40 other amazing effects that create additional challenges and endless customization for dance game fans.

In The Groove review:
Originally founded in 1999 as the first ever online rental service for video games, RedOctane has since made quite a splash in the industry as probably the best manufacturer of video game dance pad peripherals and accessories. To accompany its award-wining line of Ignition Dance Pads, the budding publisher has just released its first ever console software title for the PlayStation 2 -- In The Groove developed by Roxor Games. Now when it comes to dancing games, Konami’s gargantuan Dance Dance Revolution franchise has reigned supreme without much competition for years upon years, however RedOctane and Roxor Games are proving they aren’t afraid to go head-to-head with the master with the release of In The Groove, a dance title that easily matches DDR feature for feature, even surpassing it in many areas along the way.
