The increased accuracy and range of the long barrel goes great with the sniper scope, and with the power of chunks of magical energy called materia, you can unload special shots, such as an exploding fireball, by expending a bit of your magic gauge. There's a lot of mixing and matching to do, and parts can be individually upgraded with better stats via shopping terminals or between stages.
