Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: In DF: BHD players will take on the role of an elite Delta Force Operative as they participate in a number of daring raids against the oppressive Somali warlords in and around Mogadishu. Black Hawk Down brings the intensity of Modern Warfare to Xbox and PS2 with a range of intense single player and multiplayer missions.

Game Chronicles reviews
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: If there’s a reason to get this game, it’s for the online play. There are far too few multiplayer games for the PS2 that allow for 32 simultaneous players. While the experience might not run as smooth as the PC version (mostly due to immature punks), it’s about as good as it’s gonna get for us Sony fans. Otherwise, hold out for SOCOM 3 and form a clan. Over and out.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: The game may still appeal to hardcore military fanatics, but if you're in the market for one of the better contemporary shooters, you're better off avoiding this one.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: But once the actual game begins, that well-meaning stage is dismantled and used for kindling faster than it would take a Delta Force Team to secure your living room. Make no mistake, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is a first-person arcade game, with only the lightest of tactical strategy and combat realism.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: Unfortunately, NPCs do have one thing in common: they're not all that smart. I saw one guy running circles on a truck bed, and another warping onto the surface of every piece of real estate he came across. Ya think that's why you can't take too many shots?

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down review: Though the multiplayer can be fun for a while, the weapon balancing is out of whack, and the implementation of vehicles is contrived to the point of absurdity. The game may still appeal to hardcore military fanatics, but if you're in the market for one of the better contemporary shooters, you're better off avoiding this one.

Yahoo! Games previews
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down preview: It looked sharper, without doubt, but we preferred the rough, dirty feel of the PS2, which is unusual.Although some of the maps have been "subtly redesigned", the story elements remain the same. One key difference is the Xbox's ability to save anywhere - albeit a limited number of times (while the PS2 uses a checkpoint system).
