The Parasites also sound a lot of fun, sucking energy from your subjects and returning it back to you, while the Meson Cannon fires projectiles that attach to an object and then spawn tendrils that attach to up to four enemies before killing them in gruesome fashion. Nice.

We reckon that Midway should buy the Alien license next and give it to the same developers. The potential is certainly there for something brilliant, what with uncannily dank corridors, use of flashlights, shock tactics and heavy artillery. Not to mention the nasties that look suspiciously like face huggers...

Area 51 review:
PC and Xbox owners are a little better-stocked on the FPS front so maybe consider a rental first, but all-in-all we're impressed with yet another accomplished effort by Midway - a publisher/developer that has unexpectedly become one of the most consistent performers in the business. The truth is boring but true: Area 51 deserves more credit than some critics are prepared to give it.
