Peter Jackson's King Kong review: This is particularly disappointing as it’s one of the rather limited number of Xbox 360 release titles. We 360 owners certainly didn’t pay peanuts, so we deserve a bit more than this particular monkey.

Peter Jackson's King Kong review: The movie industry, as glitzy and glamorous as it can be, has been doing a better job in recent years with its relations to the gaming world. Thanks to recent successes like Chronicles of Riddick and the LOTR action games, the gaming community can no longer say that a movie-licensed game is going to automatically bite the big one. Luckily, it seems that Peter Jackson is on a role, as he teamed up with Ubisoft’s powerhouse game designer Michel Ancel for his latest project, a virtual version of his recent King Kong film. Mixing visceral elements of action and survival with smart puzzle solving, as well as two playable characters, Peter Jackson’s King Kong truly is king of the jungle. Regardless, the game may be “love it or hate it”, much like the movie, to the general public, due largely to its unique gameplay.

Peter Jackson's King Kong review: Ubisoft's artistic achievement is emotionally packed, exciting, way too short, and a little problematic.

Peter Jackson's King Kong review: Pete also admits to being a keen gamer himself, which is one of the reasons why he insisted on being involved with the development of the King Kong video game. Having acknowledged the not-so-popular (but solid) multiplatform title Beyond Good and Evil (http://www.actiontrip.com/reviews/beyondgoodevil.phtml), Pete expressed the desire to cooperate with Ubisoft producer Michel Ancel.

Peter Jackson's King Kong review: Case in point: a sequence in which you have to fight your way through several waves of prehistoric alligators armed with half a clip of pistol ammo, and if you're lucky, a few scraps of bone. Needless to say, you're going to have to get creative during sequences like that, and not in any truly satisfying way.
