Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell review:
Battle out of Hell was the only release I was looking forward to this fall. While some will say Painkiller introduced nothing new to the genre, using old techniques bundled with some twists and turns, I’d say that’s only partially correct. The newness it brought to us in 2004 was exactly the old that disappeared after Quake.

Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell review:
Battle Out of Hell is still a thrill ride; there are just a couple of really bad intermissions breaking it up. Still, for the price they’re asking (I’ve even heard it’s on sale for $15 in some areas) it’s definitely got some bang for your buck.

People Can Fly have given the fan base exactly what they wanted; another dose of the Painkiller franchise. We only hope it’s a much larger dose next time.

Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell review:
It’s probably one of the best expansion packs for any game released in 2004. If you own the original this is a must buy.

For fans of the first game, I have only this to say: semi-automatic sniper-rifle stake gun. With more of everything, this is a must own!

Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell review:
Painkiller will always be regarded as a unique addition to the ever-growing library of First-Person Shooters, even with its rather formulaic approach to throwing a vast horde of demonic enemies at you. The enemies all have one goal – to kill you, and they attempt to do so by honing in and relentlessly attacking.

Painkiller: Battle Out Of Hell review:
"A shooter in its purest form" says the press blurb about People Can Fly's relentless and maniacal attempt at elbowing its way onto the FPS scene. But unlike a lot of the fluff that PRs like to spin hysterically around their products, this quote is right on the money.

Amongst the crop of the good, the bad and the ugly expansion packs, DreamCatcher has decided to capitalize on the busiest season of the year for gaming by releasing their expansion to the arcade twitch-shooter Painkiller, entitled, Battle out of Hell.

Picking up right where the game’s story left off, Battle out of Hell includes an additional single-player chapter with 10 levels, as well as new multiplayer modes, maps and models. It will also offer an amplified arsenal of un-deadly weapons, bigger and badder bosses.
