Earth 2160 review:
Fans of PC real time strategy games can generally pick up almost any game in the genre over the past couple of years and play it with one eye half-open, clicking away to mine loot, then building units until they simply overwhelm the opposition. There have been some nice shakeups to this formula in 2005, with games like Act of War: Direct Action, Dawn of War and Black & White 2 offering some great twists to shake up familiar gameplay. Now, you can add Midway and TopWare’s Earth 2160 to that list. Developed by Reality Pump Studios, Earth 2160 is a great-looking sci-fi RTS that gives your brain just as much of a workout as your mouse hand and then some. Offering up 25 single player missions, a challenging 10 level Skirmish mode and 4 multiplayer modes, there’s certainly enough game here to keep you busy for a while.
Earth 2160 review:
Even RTS experts might be turned off by the generic campaign story and lack of any real personality to the factions. On the plus side, each faction is well balanced and plays out very differently, so if the bland sci-fi settings don't bother you, there's a lot of gameplay depth here to sink your teeth into.
Earth 2160 review:
You’ll be better off going head to head with a friend, or engaging in small time skirmishes, especially if you can’t afford to spend hours in front of your monitor. The graphical improvements are worth checking out as well, and if you find yourself with a lack of new and exciting RTS games to have a go with, then check out Earth 2160. -- Dustin Chadwell
Earth 2160 review:
Its rockets soar into the air on columns of smokes. Their explosions throw dynamic lighting and the enemy base will collapses one component at a time or topple entirely if you blow out the base unit. This game is a real looker and it doesn't have to sacrifice scale to do it. You'll often fight battles with a hundred units onscreen at once.
Earth 2160 review:
In Earth 2160 you can choose from one of the four conflicting parties: ED - after the destruction of the EARTH, the leaders of the Eurasian Dynasty escaped on board an evacuation fleet. Now they are fighting for the survival of the human species. Their base is one large building comprising of smaller variable parts.
Earth 2160 review:
Earth 2160 features interesting gameplay and beautiful graphics, but it's dragged down by its badly paced and terribly told campaign.
