Cold War review: Cold War also lets you play as another main character besides Carter towards the end, which would be fine except the game then hits you with unfair odds and cheap "gotcha" attacks. It briefly tries to become a run-and-gun shooter when the whole game is designed to discourage that sort of play.

Cold War review: After playing through a couple adventure games I was looking for something different and jumped at the chance to review Cold War by Mindware. While others might compare the game to the popular Splinter Cell series I personally think it's much more along the lines of a cross between Hitman and Max Payne .

Cold War review: Cold War follows the story of Matt Carter a freelance journalist who finds himself in the midst of an international conspiracy that aims to control the U.S.S.R. Using only recovered weapons and improvised gadgets, he must now evade or overcome elite Soviet forces and defeat the conspiracy before he is sent to a Siberian prison camp or killed.

Cold War review: Another Splinter Cell-derived title and, yet again, we're left disappointed. Cold War is, as Chris finds out, flawed, largely unoriginal and lacking in any of the precision it so badly wants to pretend it has.

Cold War review: It may be rude to say this but unfortunately Cold War feels cheap – it has some great ideas and does, for the most part, look great, but when put all together it just doesn’t work and is much more of a miss than a hit. It is to Splinter Cell what the late night DTV action movie on Channel Five is to Die Hard - a poor relative.

Cold War review: Splinter Cell fans will be in for a familiar experience in Cold War, a competent but unremarkable stealth action game that puts you in the middle of a Soviet conspiracy.

Game Chronicles reviews
Cold War review: It's gameplay and graphics are good but it does not stand out in any major way. The game has a few problems with the AI and how the characters react to you when your close but overall it's worth looking at. If you like the action games where you have to figure out the best way to proceed and not shoot at everything that moves then this one is worth purchasing.

Cold War review: While the storyline and voice acting do feel a little cliche, and the AI isn't perfect, Cold War is still very enjoyable for the gamers out there who look for stealth mixed in with a little action, although be warned, this is most certainly a stealth first game.
