Burnout Revenge review:
There’s nothing more fun than taking something beautiful and destroying it, watching the mass devastation unfold before your eyes like some form of chaotic poetry. The sheer joy and rapture you can get out of watching a car slam into another and shoot it miles ahead while cruising at a cool 130mph just does something to a human. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Burnout franchise, whether on Acclaim or EA, helped to redefine the way a racing game was made. Criterion has become one of the biggest developers in recent time, due mostly in part to its well-received Burnout 3: Takedown published under EA’s trademark logo last year. And even though the guys are hard at work on bringing this same destructive nature to first person shooters with Black, there is always time to squeeze out a new Burnout title. While Burnout Revenge does offer up all of the same glamorous crash ‘n’ burn gameplay that we all love, the game just doesn’t feel as exciting as the last installment. Thankfully, destruction can blind that rather quickly.
