Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: Naruto: Clash of Ninja is a fighting game for 1-2 players where gamers may choose to play as one of eight different Naruto characters. Using special character-specific moves, players take on challengers in one-on-one fights to determine who is the greatest ninja.

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: With Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto one of the most popular Japanese manga and anime series to hit US shores, it was only natural that a couple of video games based on it make their way over as well. If you’re a Naruto-head who happens to be a big Nintendo supporter, consider yourself extremely fortunate. D3Publisher of America has released a fun 3D fighting game based on the series, Naruto: Clash of Ninja for the GameCube. As this one is geared more towards the shows younger fans, you won’t find super-complicated moves or a complex storyline here at all. In fact, the game gets the majority of its kudos from the hyperkinetic action featuring simple to pull off explosive combo moves and insane signature attacks straight from the anime and manga. The great-looking cel-shaded characters and their fierce moves are the big stars of the game, although the total amount of combatants is a wee bit slim. Still, there’s definitely some good times to be had and seven game modes here if you’re looking for a bit of wild button bashing to share with friends.

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: Though not a tournament-quality fighter by any stretch of the imagination, Naruto: Clash of Ninja accomplishes what it sets out to do with by providing a fun alternative to the more hardcore games of the genre, one that’s easy to pick up and hard to put down.  Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: What Clash of Ninja does have are some slick-looking fighters pulling off some signature moves, and the potential for a much better sequel. That just may be enough for some fans.

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: + While Naruto: Clash of Ninja fails to evolve the whole fighting theme in general, it's still enjoyable to play.

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja review: You have a few unlockable characters, but it really isn't anything special. On top of that, you can only play through the story mode as Naruto; nothing to give the same story from different perspectives as was done for the various games in the DBZ: Budokai series. It's sort of a ho-hum deal, and considering the charm of the source material, it is really a disappointment.
