Mario Superstar Baseball review:
This is a great sports game for two players, and still alright for three or four. The variety of possibilites alone allows for games to be continually entertaining.

In the end, Mario Superstar Baseball isn't a great game, but it definitely has its moments. A rental is recommended, but buy it only if there are other people around to play ball. Author: Adam Bender   aka: Nightwing

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
It's never a great sports rendition, and nor is it a great arcade-tickling Mario game. The superficiality of the challenges and the clunkiness of general play mean it's a dissatisfying performance for Japan's most popular sport and its most popular plumber. It's a sad conclusion, but Mario really only ever gets to second base.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
Not being a big fan of sports games, I found it enjoyable and didn't find myself getting bored before the game was over.In the end, Nintendo has themselves a decent game, and I would recommend giving this one a rent or a borrow if you are considering it. There just wasn't enough in this one for me to give it a glowing score and suggest that you run out and buy it.

Others simply looking for a filler Nintendo game to tidethem over should rent before buying. Nintendo didn't quite make a grandslam with Mario Superstar Baseball, but it did manage to make a fewhome runs. Lack of depth, repetitive gameplay, and low lifespan are allflaws that an off-season training camp can definately remedy for thenext installment.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
For instance, those blocks that contain items from Mario games past float above the field in Peach’s Garden, so there really isn’t anything stopping your ball from landing somewhere awkward if it hits a block. There are quite a few other places as well, but you’ll discover them if you decide to try the game out.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
Mario and his usual gang of sidekicks have been showing their athletic sides in solo sports arenas such as tennis and golf for years now, but to show they can work together in team sports they are now taking to the baseball diamond in Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube. Football is clearly America’s pastime at this point (sorry diehard baseball fans but it’s true), however baseball still has the “family outing” feeling down more than any other sport, which makes it fit like a glove in the accessible-to-anyone Mario sports universe. I’ll be completely frank here, I could care less about real life baseball, but when it comes to video games I find the sport to translate well into an enjoyable experience due to the ability to eliminate the downtime watching real baseball is plagued by. And with Mario Superstar Baseball, Nintendo (and Namco) have made the ultimate arcade baseball game that non-fans of the sport, such as myself, can jump right into and enjoy.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
(The lack of any sort of regular season mode ensures this.) And as this simple type of game that's neither too deep nor too shallow, Superstar's "swing at anything, steal all the time, watch out for the Thwomps in right field" brand of baseball is tough to beat. It might not be the World Series, but it's a definite wild card.

This one is worth picking up, if only so you can refer to Toad as "Slugger".

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
+ Multiplayer heaven between the baseball match-ups and some truly enthusia-building mini-games.+ Lots of modes to play around with, including a RPG-like game and the Toy Box.+ Graphics just ooze that classic Nintendo charm, with only slight hiccups.+/- Most of the character voices are fitting, and the music's alright. The announcer, though, needs to go.+/- Gameplay is mixed.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
Each character has great little touches that affect the gameplay. Donkey Kong is so powerful that he doesn't even use a bat; instead, he smacks the ball with his boxing-glove covered hand. Both Boo and King Boo have ghostly bats, but the latter has a crown. In addition to stylistic differences, each player has a different pitching, hitting, fielding, and speed rating.

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
Should the ball leave the infield, your control will suddenly and automatically shift to the center fielder, who's also charging forward for the ball. But getting used to when these control shifts happen can be irritating, and the process steepens the learning curve for the game a bit. Page 2 of 2 »

Mario Superstar Baseball review:
Really, it’s a shame that one of Nintendo’s in-house studios like Camelot, the guys behind Mario Tennis, didn’t handle the project. They have a stronger track-record with Nintendo licenses – and the Big N itself should have done itself a favor and stuck with their guns rather than shopping out the idea elsewhere. Here’s hoping they give it another shot in the future.
