Geist preview:
At this point in time, however, we remain optimistic as to whether Geist will be as good as we want it to be. While the premise is definitely interesting, there are just a few little niggling problems that could potentially ruin the experience. Naturally, only time will tell, and we’ll let you know our thoughts on Geist closer to launch. Stay tuned.

The host must mash the "A" button to get the ghost out of their body and blast it with all sorts of anti-paranormal weaponry. As a multiplayer game, Geist has the potential to go down as one of the best shooters on the GameCube. It's the other things, however, that might snatch victory from its jaws.

Of course, there’s a lot of time for Geist to pull a few things together and surprise everyone, it’s certainly slipped on enough occasions, if it means we’ll get a classic then I don’t think anyone will mind the wait. You just have wonder if it was down to Nintendo not being best pleased with what they’d seen. Watch this space. ©

Giving FPS games to a Gamecube owner is like giving meat to starving wild dogs. We don't get much of them, so it's always good when one rolls around. It gets even better when you mix it with some exciting paranormal activity, and the ability to possess things.

Geist preview:
But in the end, Geist is looking to become the primary FPS for Gamecube, possibly topping Metroid at some point and maybe it can even be compared to that Xbox shooter Halo. Though the game is three whole month’s from launch, Nintendo has plenty of time to iron out any wrongs and perhaps make Geist one of the best Gamecube games to date.

Most importantly, you can possess everyday objects like lights, computers and fire extinguishers and manipulate them to terrify nearby humans or animals. Once a living creature has been frightened, you can possess and control its body. As you play, you'll need to face challenges from two unique angles -- as a lurking spirit and as a possessed human or animal.
