Alien Hominid review:
With its strictly 2D graphics and deceptively simple play mechanics, Alien Hominid will not appeal to everyone. But if you grew up with this kind of game on older systems, or if you just enjoy fast-paced action games in general, this is one of the best on GameCube.

Alien Hominid review:
A little ambition really can go along way. Just look at The Behemoth - after an Alien Hominid Flash game on the web proved remarkably popular, the fledgling developer was formed on little more than the funding of its few members to polish the idea up and turn it into a true commercial product. And it doesn't take more than a glance at the game's box sat alongside the likes of Super Mario Sunshine and The Wind Waker in the CUBE cupboard to realise that this goal has been very much achieved.

Alien Hominid review:
For some time, console conspiracy theorists have been dwelling on the sad state of 2D gaming on modern home systems, and with good reason. There are plenty of arguments for why any number of import shooters, platformers, fighters and other genres have never reached our shores while dozens of other games in the same genres that happen to be in 3D get shuffled into stores at a head spinning rate. If you happen to be caught in the middle of one of these verbal broadsides between polygon and anti polygon adherents, it’s safe to say you’d better be prepared for some awfully fierce ear bending from both camps. But usually when the griping starts anew, a scrap or two is dropped from the table that silences the 2D chorus for as long as it takes them to go through the game in question on every difficulty setting until the best players can make it through on as few lives as possible.

Alien Hominid review:
Every once in a long while, a game comes along that stands out from the rest. A true gem hidden among piles of rubble. Beneath the rubble of 2004's holiday season, this gem is Alien Hominid. What started as a quaint flash game at the infamous website NewGrounds, Alien Hominid evolved into a full fledged console shooter, rebuilt from the ground up.
