Advance Guardian Heroes review:
The real crying shame is that out of Treasure's entire back catalogue, Guardian Heroes is the one that we wanted to see resurrected the most. And now it's finally here, we feel as if someone has broken into our house, rubbed poo into the carpet, and stolen the cat.

I knew it was too good to be true. When I initially found out that Treasure was releasing a second game for the GBA only a few short weeks after their sublime Astro Boy: Omega Factor (still my pick for best handheld game of the year so far), I thought I had gone to Heaven.

It has its warts - mediocre extra modes, laughable text localization, occasional slowdown, a Story Mode that's over much too soon - but it also has fun and addictive gameplay with a lot of interesting features. This is a good action game that falls short of being great. Fans of the original should enjoy it, and it may create some new fans as well.
