Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll review:
Judging by the screenshots, you might assume that you maneuver your monkey by continuously swiping your stylus over the cartoony representation of the little guy on the DS's bottom screen to get him to roll in the desired direction. Namco's Pac'n Roll used this control scheme with surprisingly effective results. Unfortunately, that's not the case here.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll review:
Maybe we wouldn't be so picky if we hadn't played console Super Monkey Ball games. But we have, and this isn't as good. There's still plenty to enjoy in the largely excellent level design, just be aware that a handful of the levels are even more frustrating thanks to the control system.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll review:
Touch & Roll for the DS offers more or less everything you'd expect from a Monkey Ball game, but it doesn't do a whole lot more than that.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll review:
The staff-credits mini-game, which you see after every ten levels, is incredibly boring after about ten seconds, but lasts about four unskippable minutes and you have no way to avoid it thereafter except turning the DS off and on again. Frankly, that sums things up: solid, but not exactly clever.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll preview:
"Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll offers bite-sized gameplay that's perfect for handheld gaming," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. This title is sure to keep you busy on car rides or lengthy theme park lines, but will it be enough monkey madness for players to go bananas over.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll preview:
" Sega's using an interesting combination of 3D environments and a sprite-based character, and I'm still not sure of how it will affect the gameplay, but what I've seen so far looks to be smooth and silky. The game reportedly runs at 60fps, so there shouldn't be any major problems. Considering how well the GBA version was (considering the hardware), I simply cannot wait for Touch &anp; Go.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll preview:
Even a short play through of Touch & Roll made it obvious that the focus of this DS title is mostly on the multiplayer mini-games. And for some inexplicable reason, this handful of party challenges completely lacks any sort of D-pad control scheme, forcing players to use the dodgy touch screen setup. To be fair, though, it's only an issue in a few of the mini-games.
