GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is a decent first-person shooter in its own right, but shows that the genre still has a ways to go on the DS before reaching the level of playability of its PC and console counterparts. That's not to say that GoldenEye is horrible, far from it, it just never seems to get on track with its, at times, awkward play control. If you're in the market for a first person shooter, and you want to see the possibilities of what might soon come for the DS in this genre, you might want to pick up GoldenEye. It's a nice play through, and has some very valid gameplay elements to it. For everyone else, the game is a rental, at best.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: Is it really good to be bad, or is the first full first person shooter to grace the DS another "could have been" lackluster?

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: As an aspiring 00 agent dismissed from MI6 for reckless brutality, the player is recruited by Auric Goldfinger in a ruthless war against Dr. No for control of the Bond underworld. Players wreak havoc as they make their unrelenting rise through the ranks of villainy. On globe-spanning missions of vengeance and demolition, players encounter such legendary Bond characters as Oddjob, Dr. No, Goldfinger, Scaramanga, and Xenia Onatopp.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: There are no alternatives for anyone hoping for a solid first-person-shooter on the go, but Kirby: Canvas Curse, Meteos and other games released this month certainly provide the bang-for-your-DS-dollar that GoldenEye: Rogue Agent cannot.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: As if sleeping dogs shouldn't be left to lay, the EA's underwhelming Goldeneye: Rogue Agent as already seen on GameCube, PlayStation2 and Xbox is now available on Nintendo DS, stripped to fit.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: Granted it might be unfair to compare a finished product to a title that's yet to be released, but the fact of the matter is that the brief demo for Hunters showed more promise for the FPS genre on the DS than Rogue Agent shows in its entirety. On the positive side, Rogue Agent shows that as far FPSes on the DS are concerned, at this point in time things can only get better.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: If you are waiting on Metroid, this will also hold your attention until Nintendo decides that game is ready. Why wait for Metroid when you have the first great FPS on the DS now? -- Brian Peterson

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent review: The designers should be warned not to make touch-screen icons too small to use with the thumb-nub though. So, for a while, EA gets to enjoy the luxury of having the only FPS game out for the DS. Whether you want to play it or not will only be determined by your love of the genre and how much patience you have to learn a whole new way to play and control the game.
