Now that the Nintendo DS has a secure spot in the gaming industry after a post-launch lull of games that truly took advantage of the device’s technology, developers are finally coming up with all sorts of innovative ways to conceptualize gaming titles that have never been done before and can’t be done on any other handheld, console or PC gaming platform. Sprung from the mind of famous Japanese media artist Toshio Iwai, Electroplankton fits in that description perfectly, clearly ranking as the most bizarre and original title to land on the DS thus far. For the most part that’s nothing but a good thing, but as you’ll learn there’s just a little something missing from the overall package that narrowly keeps it from being what it truly could’ve been.

I even like music games. Unfortunately, Electroplankton serves up 30 minutes of decent fun, but then the party’s over. There simply isn’t enough to do, not enough options to explore, and the experience is cut short way too fast. Some hardcore players out there will enjoy this game. + Untraditional gameplay that challenges you to create your own musical path+ Eleven different types of plankton, each of which contains signature sounds and quirks+ Fantastic use of the DS hardware. Both the touch screen and microphone are excellently used+ DS speakers do a fine job outputting the music- There's no way to permanently save recordings.

g sped up, backwards, and some that are just plain weird).Electroplankton makes good use of the DS’s unique features- silky-smooth stylus control, use of the microphone, and a zoomed-in view of the action (such as it is) on the top screen-perhaps not particularly useful but it looks pretty nice all the same.

Many will think the game is stupid and pointless. And there’s no point in giving a game negative rep just because it’s not made for your tastes. Do some research on it, and if you end up paying for it and hate it, don’t come crying to me. I’m giving you fair warning. This is either going to be one of the best, or one of the worst games you’ve ever played.And it’s not even a game.
