Advanced Search Operators

:

Gamepublic supports several advanced operators, which are query words that have special meaning to Gamepublic. Typically these operators modify the search in some way, or even makes Gamepublic to do a totally different type of search. Some of these special operators are accessible from the Advanced Search page, but some are not. Below is a list of all the special operators Gamepublic supports.

Several of the more common operators use do not require a colon. Among these operators are [platform] and [channel]. Such operator doesn't have a special designation and could be used in Gamepublic search by just typing its value. For instance, you may use [platform] operator by entering "Max Payne 2 PC" into a search, where is "PC" is the value of [platform] operator.

platform:

By using this operator, Gamepublic will search for all games which have been published on the listed platform. You may put several platform titles into your query. Please put space between platforms. You should not include [platform] operator by itself into your query and must use only its value.

For instanse, to search for all games of the Doom series on Xbox and PC platforms, you should use [Doom xbox pc] query.

channel:

When [channel] operator is used, Gamepublic will return games which have at least one link of the listed channel. You may search for the games within several channels by putting space between channels. Please don't put [channel] operator into your query by itself, use its value only.

For instanse, to search for Max Payne previews and downloads you should use [Max Payne previews downloads] query.

genre:

The [genre:] query will list all games of selected genre(s). You may put several genres into your query, dividing them with a comma. For instance, to search for all PC games of action, adventure and fantasy genres you should use [pc genre:action,adventure,fantasy] query.

date:

By using [date:] operator Gamepublic will search for all games that have been released after that date. Note that you should use this format for your queries: mmddyyyy, where is m stands for a month, d is a day and y is a year.

For instance, [gamecube date:08182004] will find all games on Gamecube platform released after August 18th of 2004 year. [gamecube date:2004] will find GameCube games released after January 1st, 2004.

site:

If you include [site:] in your query, Gamepublic will restrict the results to those websites in the given domain. For instance, [Max Payne site:gamespot] will find all links for Max Payne from Gamespot website, grouped by platform.

Note that you may use either site's official name or site's URL as the value of the [site:] operator. Both [site:www.totalgames.net] and [site:Total Games Network] are valid and will return same results.

rating:

The query [rating:] will restrict the results to those games that are of the same or above rating. For instance, [pc rating:90] query will return all PC games with a rating of 90% and above.

related:

The query [related:] will list all games that are "similar" to a specified game. For instance, [related:enclave] will list all games that are similar to Enclave game.

company:

By using [company:] operator in your query, Gamepublic will search for all games that have been either published or developed by that company. Please note that you should use the official names. For instance, [company:id Software] will return all games that have been published and/or developed by id Software company.

results:

You may define how much results per page Gamepublic will return for your query using [results:] operator.

top:

If you include [top:] in your query, Gamepublic will restrict the results to the amount of games specified in the value of this operator and sort them by ratings. For instance, [top:10 pc] query will return top 10 PC games of all time.
